Your Fire Safety Responsibilities

The duty normally sits with the responsible person. Depending on how the premises are run, this could be an employer, business owner, landlord, managing agent or another person with responsibility for the site.
Your insurer may expect you to show that risks have been assessed and suitable precautions are in place.
Insurance terms vary, so you should check your policy or speak to your insurer about what evidence they need.
There isn’t much you need to do beforehand.
If you have an older assessment, testing records, maintenance records or other relevant documents, have them available. If some records are missing, we can still carry out the assessment and discuss what’s available.
