British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE)

BAFE is an independent registration body for third-party certificated fire safety organisations. A BAFE certificate is a collection of comprehensive competency requirements which are developed to integrate the highest quality fire safety standards and working practices for services within the fire industry.

Melwood Facilities are accredited to BAFE’s competency schemes for risk assessment, fire detection, fire alarm system designs, installation, commissioning and maintenance, fire extinguisher maintenance and servicing, emergency lighting systems designs, installation, commissioning and maintenance and fixes gaseous fire extinguishing system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. 

The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM)

Established in 1974 and with over 4,000 members, the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) is a professional body for fire safety professionals in the UK.

According to the IFSM, their mission is to “raise the awareness of fire safety at a local, national and international level, promoting fire prevention, fire protection and reducing the risk from fire as far as reasonably practicable.”

National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC)

The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) is the UK’s leading independent body for the electrical contracting industry. The NICEIC lay down the standards for electrical installation work in the UK and assess the competence of electrical contractors.

Melwood Facilities’ experienced and qualified team are an approved contractor of the NICEIC, which ensures our rigorous standards for competence of electrical contractors. This includes domestic and commercial electrical installation, fault finding and repairs, electrical testing and inspection & renewable energy installation.

Gas Safe Register

The Gas Safe Register is a list of engineers that are legally able to carry out gas work.

The Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body for gas businesses and engineers in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.

Our Melwood Facilities fire safety engineers are licensed to undertake gas safety work for statutory compliance and fire safety.
